I ordered a rug from Sears in early April. I was told it should arrive no later than May 14. It did not. I waited and waited and finally on Thursday, May 20th I called Sears to find out where the rug was. I was told it had shipped April 27 and that I certainly should have recieved it. They assured me they would investigate and promised I would be contacted by phone within 2 days regarding the rug. On Monday, May 24 I received a phone call telling me that the rug was with Fed Ex and would be delivered on Wednesday, May 26th. On May 27th, I called Sears to report that my rug had not arrived.
They checked and told me it had been delivered on the 26th as promised and gave me a Fed Ex tracking # and a phone number to call. I called, got an automated system and played the game. I was told that the item was delivered on Wednesday, May 26th at 4:11 PM and was signed for by J. Well, I was here, they were not and I still had no rug.
I stayed on the confusing automated system, trying a variety of things unttil I finally got a live person who investigated further and said the item had been returned to the shipper (Sears)on, yes, believe it or not, Wednesday, May 26th. I called Sears and told them to cancel the order. I was told by Sears that I could not cancel the order and that in 2 days time, I would be contacted by Sears regarding the rug. Now, I do live in a rural area but I have recieved packages from Sears via Fed Ex on many occassions. In fact, I shipped a hammock from Cancun, Mexico on May 14th with Fed Ex and it arrived on May 25th. So, I am totally confused as to why Fed Ex could not locate my address and deliver my package in a month's time? Also, since Sears choses to use Fed Ex and Fed Ex screws up, why not allow me to cancel the order? Linda A
