Blue Haven Pools and Poor Customer Service
I would like to add to the consumer complaints against Blue Haven Pools. We employed them to put in a pool for us that was completed in January 2002. In July 2002 when we were going on vacation to Orlando, FL our pool began to turn very green. Within 2 days it was almost black.
I contacted Blue Haven while in Orlando and the lady was extremely rude. She gave me the runaround until I got insistent that she get someone out to look at it. She tried to insist we would have to pay for it and I told her we would not considering we had not even used the pool but a couple of times. One of their contractors came out and looked at it and told us that the wiring beneath the pool had shorted out. He thought they would have to dig up the cool deck to fix it but somehow they rigged it to work without digging it up.
The entire time we have had the pool we have a very difficult time especially in the summer keeping the pool from being green so it is unusable more than it is usable. We have the colored lights in the pool and they quit working after a year. I have contacted them numerous times but I'm always told they don't cover it and they refer me usually to a company called Manitron but Manitron charges $105 just to come out and look at it.
Recently the rayvac quit working. I called Blue Haven and they told me to call Manitron. Blue Haven told me if the rayvac breaks between 5-10 years it is under warranty. If it breaks before 5 years it is not covered - never heard of anything so stupid. Found an outside contractor on my own who came out today and told us the timer system quit working as well.
Also within a year the the cartridges that they used in the filter system broke. I have been told by other pool installers and contractors that the cartridge system and the timer system are the cheapest made way to go. We were not told this. We paid $26,000 cash to get this pool. They customer service is horrible and I would not recommend using them ever for pool service. Their service is wonderful while they are trying to sell you the pool but after they got you that's it.
