Verizon phone service
For 2 years I have been trying to get my phone service repaired. Two years ago every time it rained my phone would stop working. I called Verizon repair time and time again to have this problem fixed. Someone would have to be available in case the repairman had to gain acces to the home. Forget that it might mean that someone could lose a days pay. That is the customers problem, not Verizon's. I don't remember how many repairman came to fix the problem. You would have thought that Verizon would have been smart enough to know that if the problem only occurred when it rained, they, they would send a repairman out when it rained. I guess NO ONE at Verizon is that smart. I finally took a look under my mobile home one day and found to my surprise that someone from Verizon had put an phone jack underneath my home. I plugged a phone into it and it worked. I have NO idea why anyone would be so stupid! I own a cordless phone so why would I need a phone jack, of all places, under my mobile home where it is not easily accessible. One of Verizon's repairman finally told me that the jack was shorting out and that is why I was losing my phone service. He cut and capped each wire. My phone worked fine for a few months. I forgot to ask him why there was so much excess telephone wire left under my home in a tangled mess. After a few months I started to hear static on my phone line. Since I didn't lose phone service, I didn't think it had anything to do with the same wire under my mobile home. The static became worse and worse. I finally called repair and told them that someone would have to come out in the rain and check the phone line in order to find where the problem was. I guess Verizon's repairmen are afraid to get wet. In 2 years not one repairman would come out to check the line when it rained. I pointed out the phone line that had been cut and asked the repairman if it could still be causing problems because I could see rust in the plastic caps. He ignored my question. I also asked him why so much phone wire was left in a tangled mess. He said he didn't know. I thought since he had so much trouble figuring out the wiring tha the would have gotten rid of the excess wire. He didn't. He left the mess. He also did not find the problem since it was not raining. I got angry when he finally told me a repairman would have to come out when it was raining and walked away from him. A couple of days later I went underneath my mobile home and tore out the phone wire that I believe was causing all the trouble. We had a rain storm the following day and so far, there has been no static on my phone line. I phoned Verizon and told them I wanted to be paid for doing the job that their repairmen didn't. You can guess what the reply was. I was told it was okay with Verizon if I fixed my phone line, they didn't mind. I asked for a name and address where I could send the bill for my time and expense and so far no one at Verizon will answer that question. I have now reported Verizon to the New York State Public Service Commission. I was told by th PSC that Verizon was supposed to credit my account with 6 months of service, but NO ONE at Verizon seems to know anything about that. I guess the PSC doesn't have as much power as they seem to think they have. I am hoping anyone who reads this complaint and also has a complaint with Verizon, will write or call the PSC and state their complaint. Maybe then the PSC will do something about the situation. Why should the customer lose money?
