This is a complaint concerning the JNY factory store in North-Conway New-Hampshire. We were shopping at this location and came upon an item that we deemed to be a good deal. The item, a black women’s jacket, was marked at $74.00. The saleswoman at the store happened to look at the price tag of the item while we had it in our hands and indicated that there was an error and that the amount should have been at $174.00. The saleswomen did not indicate that there would be a problem paying the tagged price ($74) and more or less let it go. After the saleswoman went back to the cash, we could see her discussing the situation with her co-workers. When we went to pay the item, we were told that they would not honor the price tag because it was an error.

They fumbled through several excuses (i.e.: tag must have been changed by someone – despite it being clear that the tag was perfectly intact and had not been played with; if the tag was scanned, it would not show the item as being a jacket – as they were going to scan the item, they changed the story because they realized that it would show the item as being a jacket; and finally because it was the fair thing to do…). This is the first time I have ever seen a business not honoring the price that is indicated on the tag. In most jurisdictions, it is against the law to not honor the tagged price. I do not know the laws of New Hampshire, so I could not argue on this point with the sales staff. Thank you, Steven P
