Cookie Lee jewelry

This line is sold by independent reps like Avon products. One of my co-workers sells this stuff. I have had several issues with the items I have purchased: 1. I ordered a necklace and earrings and when I received them, the necklace didn't look like the photo, which had been "backlit" to show the detail of the stones. In actuality, the stones were just plain black so it wasn't as attractive as I thought. When I told the rep that I would "think about it" she informed me that if I didn't purchase the items she'd have to "eat it," meaning that Cookie Lee would not take back the items and she'd get stuck with them, so I ended up keeping them. Although I like the set, it did not meet my expectations and it has broken twice since I've had it. I've told her and she's made no comment. 2. The first item I bought was a silver toggle necklace with floating "diamonds." One day when I was wearing it I noticed that the glass on one side had fallen out and I'd lost all of the faux diamonds! I told my rep, she checked with Cookie Lee and they said they couldn't replace it because it was discontinued. No offer to give me another necklace. My rep offered to give me another item at 50% off, which I did, but that is the absolute last purchase I will ever make from Cookie Lee. I complained about item #1 and even though they replied, I basically got nowhere. At first they thought I was a distributor and they were rather rude to me. When they realized I was a customer, they were much nicer. I complained about #2 and I never even received the courtesy of a reply. I find it amazing that absolutely nowhere in their brochures or on their sales receipts does it say "all sales final." Even when you purchase jewelry in a department store, where you get to see the actual product, you can return it. To not be able to return something that you've only seen in a picture is ludicrous. I hope this company eventually goes out of business. Kathy in Redondo B

There are over 100,000 consultants who have been a cookie lee consultant one time or another, just as we can't control our friends and family...cookie lee can't control (although i wish they would sometimes) the actions of other consultants. all of you who posted that you had bad experiences unfortunately dealt with something that is common in direct sales....bad customer service. there ARE consultants out there who provide good customer service...just like if you go to a chain restaurant and get good service at one location and bad service at another...it's the same thing...doesn't always mean that you're never going to go back. just something to take into consideration. as far as quality goes...you didn't pay 1000's of dollars for a platinum diamond necklace...you paid somewhere between $20-$50 for something that wasn't genuine stone & precious metal...did you expect it to last forever? and if it doesn't last forever then find a consultant that will offer good customer service cause there are ones out there that will.

I reluctantly attended a homeshow today which was hosted by a close friend.

From what I saw, presented by America's #2 distributor/saleswoman, many of the pieces looked plastic, cheap. The silver-and-rhinestone ones looked like cheap wanna-be bling. The prices stunned me; I understand the rep makes 50% profit. Retail price is much lower.

You can get many similar pieces at the teen store "Icing" for much less, without all the peer pressure (believe me, the pressure is strong, if you care at all about fitting in...), and without the chitchat, gossip, edibles. Aside from the opportunity to get together with other women and be "girls" for a few hours, I don't understand the appeal at all. It's overpriced, cheap jewelry. And I won't be surprised when my necklace breaks apart. Check out "Claire's" (fun pre-teen jewelry) too if you intend to look into "Icing."

Today's Cookie Lee experience made impressed on me further that where there is a will, there is a way. One could make good money selling overpriced cheap jewelry to groups of similar-minded people who, collectively, put a certain level of unspoken pressure on each other to conform, to act like one in the flock.

It has very little to do with "empowering women" and "looking your best to be successful" as the rep said. Sure it was entertaining, and fun to try on this and that just for kicks. But if I had seen any of that stuff for 50% of the price at department stores or places like TJMaxx, I wouldn't have looked twice.

I used to try to sell Cookie Lee jewelry. I say 'try' because the jewelry fell apart for my customers, many of whom were good friends. What pieces could be replaced or repaired took weeks to be shipped back to me, but many were simply not able to be repaired. I complained to the senior consultant highest in my chain, but she said I just had to buy more jewelry so that when a piece broke I could just replace it with another from my stock. She then went to a convention where she gt first choice of new items, and when I got my order of new items nearly 15% of stock came to me damaged already--it had been picked over by consultants who went to the convention! Now I'm living in England where I literally cannot give away even one piece of this stuff. I'm always going to be stuck with it.

I have been a Cookie Lee Consultant for 3 years now. I love to the business I'm in and love that the company backs up jewelry 100%. I apologize for the bad experiences you've had. Your consultant should have submitted the jewelry for repair. The fact is that Cookie Lee stands behind their jewelry 100% and will repair any piece of jewelry at no cost. If the jewelry cannot be repaired, they will issue you credit towards another piece of jewelry of equal value.

I hope you will give our product another opportunity to make up these bad experiences. I have sold many products and have only had a small quantity of repairs. Either way, all have been repaired or replaced at no additional cost to my customers.

I'd love to talk to you about making your Cookie Lee experience better!

Sincerely,

M.O.

The last comment I just read said that this company provides high quality jewlery. That is hogwash!

I have several cookie lee jewlery pieces that I purchased a couple years ago & the stuff is very fun & pretty ... but it's also crap. I have had several pieces break & it's not worth it after you realize that although cute stuff ... it's not durable or high quality.

Don't get me wrong the stuff that has not broken is very cute & I like it ... I just realize it's not going to last very long. I have fewer & fewer pieces because the quality really is poor. But, it's nice while it does last. And since it's not easy to get replaced or order directly online ... it's not worth it to me to buy more.

I have the worst "rep"!!! I bought a pretty necklace from a gal who gave me the 100% guarantee that cookie lee stands by their jewelry, and will fix or replace their items if something breaks, malfunctions... My necklace broke (I really liked it!), and instead of having my best friend fix the links in the chain (she's a jeweler)I had my rep send it to be fixed. That was December 2007, it is now mid June 2008. I haven't seen my $47 necklace, and only got excuses from Daniella, my rep., in one phone call. I also have a client that paid her in advance for an 18 inch chain, and never got it or a call or her money back. I bought the item in November, so I got to wear my purchase once. Cookie Lee should have better reps.

If I had been your consultant, this would have never happened. I have sold a few thousand dollars worth of jewelry and have only had a few items break. I sent the merchandise in, and Cookie Lee replaced it with a brand new piece. If the item had been discontinued, I would have given them an even exchange.

I believe you had a bad rep also. So sorry this happened to you.

Sincerely,

Everything that has been stated in your complaint is absolutely true. I got coerced into becoming a consultant in 2005, by a so called girlfriend. She totally took advantage of me and is enjoying all the dream trips for her recruitments! I have over $4000.00 of jewelry and rolling carts, business cards, etc.. Cookie Lee is a rip off to say the least, the rolling cart alone was $99.00. My neighbor designs and sells jewelry and I looked at some of the catalogs he receives in the mail and I was absolutely dumbfounded. I could have got the same cart with 2 more shelves for $21.99. Cookie Lee as you know doesn't take anything back. I was bamboozled by the Capper! Shame on you...

I have a co-worker who sells this Cookie Lee crap.

Kinda pathetic to push sales on your co-workers, but she's the sort of perky go-getter type this pyramid style "sales opportunity" appeals to, and as she is a single mother and a nice person, I purchased a necklace hoping to help her out.

Well, I was bitterly disappointed. The necklace was so cheap and tacky looking! I was too embarassed to ever wear it and ended up donating it to charity.

Thankfully, my co-worker quit selling this stuff, and she's a much happier person now.

It also sounds like a bad rep. A good Cookie Lee rep will do what it takes to make you happy. My Cookie Lee rep was able to find a discontinued bracelet that my 2 year old broke. She also replaced it free for me. I did not even buy the original bracelet from her. Now that's what I call a great rep!!

I hate that you had those experiences with Cookie Lee. The representative should have replaced the item and written it off her taxes. I use to sell the jewelry. I did this for my customers. Sabrina

Cookie Lee sales are not final. There is a more than fair period where you can make a return or exchange.

The jewelry also comes with a very clear, very fair warranty.

Jewelry is pictured at actual size in catalogs and is extremely close to real-life. In fact, it looks better in real life.

I feel bad for your experiences. It is not the way consultants are trained to run their business.

There are plenty of consultants to choose from, and most provide stellar customer service and would be willing to "eat it" if that meant making a customer happy.

When your jewelry broke, your consultant absolutely should have taken it back. Corporate does guarantee their jewelry and your consultant should have had your items repaired or replaced. Your consultant only needed to fill out a form, return the piece(s) to corporate, and the items would have been repaired or replaced if possible. If repair/replacement was not available, your consultant would have received a credit on her account, which she should have used to offer you another item of your choice.

I don't know how many years ago this was originally posted, but this jewelry is of very high quality. Of course, breakage can occur, just as it can occur to jewelry made by Tiffany or any other high-priced company.

You should have received better customer care. Please don't punish the company or the honest, hard-working consultants who dedicate their businesses to preventing these kinds of experiences.
