I received unacceptable service from On Line Moving & Storage, Inc. on May 1, 2004. I agreed to use this company after quoting them on the internet and speaking with the head of sales, Kevin 3 weeks prior to my move date. My move was scheduled to take place at 8:00am. Here is a list of occurrences that led to my high levels of customer dissatisfaction: 1. Movers showed up at 2:30pm. 5 and 1/2 hours later than scheduled time 2. No proactive phone call was made to me on the entire day off the move. I called at 8:30 to find out where movers were and was told by John (staff member) that they would be a "little" late due to truck trouble 3. No reassurance was provided by John during the day, in fact he was extremely short with me. Moreover, the phones were not answered after 12:30pm that day, even though the office is scheduled to close at 2:00pm 4. I had reserved truck parking in Hoboken, NJ during the morning of the move at the initial and secondary location. Since the truck was 5 and 1/2 hours late, the parking reservation was void. As a result, the Hoboken police had to get involved at the secondary location since the truck blocked thru traffic on the one way street.
Not only were the police involved in directing traffic, they were also involved in comforting disgruntled travelers and neighbors. The police were forced to call 2 residents of Hoboken to move their cars so that the moving vehicle could legally park so that the job could be finished. 5. Lastly, and most importantly, as a result of the 5 and 1/2 delinquency I was forced to miss my nephew's first communion (3pm on 5/1/04). The company has only offered a $50 refund which hardly makes a dent in the $400 total cost for the move (for the record, the move was a one bedroom apartment, and only 8 blocks). Ther eis simply no excuse for this unacceptable service. A company like this should be put out of business. Martha
