Xpress Shuttle / Transportation
xpress shuttle service, LAX
I booked a shuttle service through the xpressshuttle website for a round trip, pick-up from lax (5/15/04) and drop-off (5/18/04) about 1 month ago. The price quoted through their website was $30.00 each way, hence $60 for the round trip. I keyed in the number of passengers (5) and the 'town car service' was offered as one of the options. I have attached a confirmation e-mail which was sent to me.
Today I called the Xpress Shuttle service to cancel the first part of my journey, but still wanted the drop-off to the airport. They said they would cancel the first part. I spoke to this lady called Sheila, and she said all was well, that the first part will be cancelled. I asked to confirm that the price will now be $30 but she said then said that a town car would not fit 5 people. She had noticed that the 'Town car ' service was reflected in my records. I told her that it was not my fault, that it was the price quoted by the website. She then transferred me to her superior , a lady called Leilia, to see if she can negotiate /honor the price quoted to me. Leilia then told me that I should have known that the town car service accomodates only 3 passengers and that her records show that I had booked the 'van sevice' which was now $51 one way!
I told her that this was my first time using their website, and the fact that they confirmed the price for me already showed that they either had to make changes to their website so as not to mislead other consumers. She was rather rude and insisted that everybody knows that a 'town car' fits only 3 people. She said that If I wanted to fit 5 people then I would have to book 2 town cars. I went back to their website..and had to look under the fleet section and saw that the 'town car' was advertised as suitable for '1-4' persons.
Can you imagine the nightmare which would have ensued at the airport had I paid and proceeded with the reservation? I then had to cancel my reservation because I refuse to be coerced into paying for something which I did not book. I am also curious as to why Lelia did not have the same information on my records as Sheila.
Thank you
doreena
