My wife and I took SBC Yahoo up on their deal 29.99 for a year. We have a Mac desktop and a pc notebook. We also have two phone numbers.
When we received our package (without receiving a confirmation letter before we got the package) we got a DSL device for a pc desktop, our phone number was for the wrong number, and after calling customer service we found out that all of the line filters supplied for our phone lines were useless and we would have to pay an additional 11.00 dollars per replacement filter (we think we need a minimum of five, but have heard you need a filter for each phone jack which we have many more than five!)
After getting nowhere with a supervisor about returning the useless filters for some (but not replacing all) kind that work in our house we decided to cancel right away.
We figured if they were this bad just with the first order it could only get worse. We were then connected to their cancellation department where some nameless voice asked us why we were canceling. After telling him the above story he said they could send out a technician who "would fix everything" I asked him what he meant and he repeated "He could fix everything".
I said no just cancel us and can't wait to see how they mangle the bill if it gets to the right address (all of a sudden after 16 years with sbc as our phone provider they have fouled up our address)
