AOL 9.0 Problems

AOL 9.0 Optimized Much like the December 25, 2003 complaint from Email User, I have had nothing but problems related to AOL 9.0. Their so-called Help desk is useless since I encountered the same dosey-do of a response - that there must be something wrong my the computer, modem, DSL, etc., but never that there may be a problem with the AOL software. After upgrading to 9.0 using one of the 42 million CDs in the world, everything would work fine for three or four logons. A message box eventually appears when signing off or closing the application. The message states that there is an update. Once the update is downloaded, I can longer connect by any means - modem or DSL - with 9.0. IE, Netscape, and even AOL 8.0 can connect with either the modem or the DSL but not the 9.0 version. I have called AOL four times and written twice. I have never gotten a written response but have found their live phone support to be totally inadequate. No matter what path is followed, the response is that I should call Microsoft, at my own expense, since it must be a W98 problem. I have once again removed the 9.0 and the pc is back running fine. AOL wants everyone in the world to use there software and blah, blah but is totally unwilling to admit that there is a problem on their end, let alone fix it. One service tech from AOL eventaully told me that some updates are in the works but it may be some time before they will be available.
