I purchased a policy in August 01, 2000. However, the first claim that I filed was denied and Veterinary Pet Insurance disputed with my own Veterinarian and insisted that my pet was being treated for a pre-existing condition. They subsequently added this condition to the policy.

Two years later I took my pet in for another condition and again the claims was denied ......pre-existing condition. Although I have renewed my policy for four years in a row, each year Veterinary Pet Insurance adds another pre-existing condition.

So. far, I have paid over a $1,000 dollars and this insurance company has denied all but one claim for treatment (related to the removal of a small lesion).

The claims department is staffed by unprofessional and unqualified personnel reviewing claims that lack sufficient medical knowledge. I would recommend to all individuals that you file a complaint with your state insurance commissioner, BBB, and the US Post office with grievances.

Insurance Commissioner - can prohibit them from writing policies within your state.

Better Business Bureau - can list them as not resolving consumer complaints.

US Postmaster - can refuse to deliver mail to their address if fraudulent practices or "scams" are found that defraud consumers and the US postal service is used to facilitate their business practice.
