Another Membership Problem
I went to the Bailey's located at 8535 Baymeadows Road. Suite 31 In Jacksonville Florida.
On 08-18-2003 I went there to just check it out and see if it was something that I would like.
When the sales person "Justin" started pressuring me into joining, I told him that I could not do that at that time because I was in danger of being laid of from work "we were downsizing" He said, "that's no problem because we have a program called a membership freeze.
That means if you lose your job or whatever, you can freeze your membership until things improve" I asked clearly..."If the worst happens and I do lose my job, I can freeze my payments until I am rehired?" "That's right" he said.
Well, after 2 visits, I was laid off. I went back to the same salesperson and told him what happened, he gave me the phone number to the home office and said that I needed to call them, when I did, they told me that there was no such Freeze program. They told me that the freeze program that they have allows you to "not go to the gym, but still pay for it" so in other words, you can freeze your membership privileges but not your payments.
Now, they want me to pay $500.00 for my 2 visits and they said that they are not responsible for the claims made by their sales staff.
I had no intention of quitting the gym, I just wanted to freeze my account until I was rehired. The owner David Bailey will not respond to any of my calls.
Be very careful and NEVER sign anything from this club. I do have an attorney working with me and of course there is no way that this will be paid, I would rather blow my credit than let these people rob me.
Mike
