Advantage Rent-A-Car @DFW Airport, Texas

In December, 2003, I reserved an Advantage rent car for eight days to be picked up at DFW Airport, Texas.

The Ford Focus I was issued had a bad shimmy due to a bald front tire. The next day I exchanged the car for another Ford Focus. This one was so badly hail damaged that it was an embarrassment to drive, had a severe front-end problem, inoperative air conditioner and a foul odor.

The car broke down about 150 miles down the interstate. The best that Advantage could offer was for us to wait 4 or 5 hours for another car to be sent out to our location on the side of the highway. While waiting, a Texas Department of Public Safety officer stopped to check on us. He informed us that the vehicle was illegal to drive due to an expired license tag and an expired vehicle inspection sticker.

I mailed a letter to the President of the company in San Antonio, Texas. I explained that the equipment being issued by Advantage was unsafe and that the employee staff was indifferent, surly, rude and uncaring.

I never received an explanation or apology from any employee concerning the poor service that we received and to date (Mar."2004) I have never received a response to my personal letter to the President. I have removed Advantage from my list of businesses to patronize.
