Arch wireless/acclaim financial services

 

I noticed you already have a complaint about them and I would like to say I also had a horrible experience with them.

 

My husband cancelled his pager through Arch over a year ago and after cancelling it he received one more bill for $18.00, which we did not pay since he no longer had the service.

 

Last September we noticed it was now on our credit report as a collection account so we began trying to take care of it, since it was only $18.00.

 

When we called Arch you got an answering service, which never called back.

 

Time has gone on and again I tried to take care of it today on the phone. I finally got a number for Acclaim by using directory assistance. Following is the phone conversation:

 

Acclaim: Hello.

Me: Is this Acclaim Financial Services?

A: Um-hm

Me: Is this Acclaim Financial Services?

A: Yes it is! (At this point the woman began to have an attitude)

Me: My husband has a past due bill I would like to take care of.

A: What is his account number? (I give it to her) Would you like to pay by check or credit card?

Me: Is there a fee for paying by check?

A: Yes, five dollars.

Me: OK, after I pay by credit card will I get a receipt in the mail saying I have paid this bill?

A: No, a letter goes out to the credit company saying you paid.

Me: So I don't get a receipt?

A: (she laughs) your credit card statement is your receipt.

Me: OK, what is your address for mailing a check?

(She gives it to me)

A: Is there anything else?

Me: Yes, I would like to know why we were never contacted in regards to paying this bill.

A: (again she laughs) YOU WERE CONTACTED, DON'T GO THERE, WE HAVE PROOF!

And then she hung up on me!

I then called back and when again the phone was answered "hello" I said, "yes, I was just speaking to someone-"

A: That was me!

Me: I would like to know what this proof is that you have contacted us?

A: oh, please

Me: Then I will not pay it if I will have no proof.

A: Then it will be on your credit history for seven years and who are you hurting mam?

Again she hung up!

 

I can not believe that first of all they expect anyone to believe they are a legitimate business when they simply answer hello.

 

I am sorry it is going to be on our credit for seven years, but if I will have no proof of payment other than a statement or cancelled check that says nothing, how do I know it even was applied to the bill?

 

I hope this helps anyone else who is thinking of using Arch!!
