Affordable A.C. and Transmission, Orlando, FL - transmission repair - actual charge more than estimated price

Affordable AC and Transmission Inc. {auto repair}

The business is called Affordable A.C. and Transmission and is located at 4446 Old Winter Garden Rd. Orlando, Fl.32811 My wife called several transmission shops in our area to get an estimate on repairing my daughters transmission.

After describing the vehicle and the problem, the people at Affordable told her it would would cost about $800 to rebuild the trans. Upon further conversation she was told that if other parts were required it could

cost up to $1000 but not more.

She brought the vehicle to their shop and signed a contract that stated they would rebuild the trans. for $800 plus any extra parts.

The contract also stated they would need $500 before begining work and that amount was for deposit for the labor of removal and the diagnostic. Upon payment of $580 they began working on the trans. and called several days later to say they would need another $1,600 to finish the work. When asked why the stated it needed parts like the torque converter, at $365 fluid pump, at $110 and solenoids at $80 and metal bands at $40 a piece.

We called auto parts stores and found the parts for way less than quoted and called other trans.shops and were told these parts were included in the rebuild price. We then called used parts stores and found a trans. for $175.

Upon calling Affordable back with this information and asking them to just install the used trans., they stated it would cost us $380 for them to put it in. They would not warranty their work and would need another $500

to remove and replace the warranteed trans. if it did not work.

Upon calling other mechanics we found someone who would install the trans. for far less and warrantee his work. We then called and asked for the car and our over payment of $80.

We were told we would have to wait until they could get around to getting it ready for us, and we could not have our $80.
