MSN - TV, formally web-tv

I purchased a MSN-TV receiver, and subscribed to MSN internet service. Following the instructions, I called MSN tech support to have a requested local access number. These units do not allow the customer to select their access number, only a MSN tech rep. can override the system and install a desired number.

Several weeks later the access number dropped off, and the receiver began calling a number that was long distance for me.

This resulted in toll charges of $681.00 over a month time span. I had one of the techs at MSN admit that a mistake was made in that my requested access number was not made permanent.

MSN management, (Alana Jones), refuse to take responsibility for the mistake made by them. I had to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau before Ms. Jones would even respond to my inquiries. I also filed a complaint with the Attorney General's Office of Washington State, Ms. Jones still refutes responsibility.

I am no longer a MSN internet service customer. However I am still a customer of MSN, because of their monopoly of the industry. Ms. Jones will not even grant the courtesy of a response to my recent letters. I would appreciate you forwarding this to Alana Jones, MSN.Com.

Anyone using the MSN-TV receiver beware, although there is not a single word about expiring access numbers in the handbook, these numbers will drop off automatically. You need to have MSN tech support make your access number permanent.
