Wal Mart :-(
I have a great story to tell about Wal Mart and their habit of hiring inept employees and management... I went to the Wal Mart Supercenter on Morse Rd. in Columbus, Ohio in late November 2002 to purchase a hunting license and deer permit for the season which began the very next morning. The reason I chose to go to Wal Mart in the first place was they they were open into the evening and I had worked all day and didn't have a chance to shop anywhere else. After waiting around the sporting goods counter for some time, getting no help as usual, I ventured out into the store to find an employee who could sell me my hunting license and deer tag. I very clearly told the employee that I needed both the license and tag to hunt with in the morning. He proceeded to enter in my name, address, etc. into their system, asked me the normal questions required by the State as to whether or not I had ever held a hunting license before, if I planned to hunt upland game and on and on, and gave me the two tags. I paid him with a personal check and went home. At 5 the next morning, I was all packed up and ready to go, when my wife pulled my tags out of my wallet and said, "I didn't realize that the state of Ohio gave you a fishing license when you bought a hunting license." And I said, "Well, they DON'T!" But the imbecile at Wal Mart sold me a fishing license and a deer tag, how nice. Thank God my wife looked! If I had been caught hunting without a hunting license I would have been in serious trouble, maybe even losing my hunting privileges for some time. So, I go into Wal Mart at about 6 am (mind you, I'm now dressed in Camo) looking for a manager who can fix my license dilemma. No pun intended, but they just gave me the deer-in-the-headlights look when I asked for a refund or a replacement. They said that the State of Ohio was the actual vendor and not Wal Mart. Their employee was only conveying, and not selling, to me the tag and license. And, as such, I would have to take it up with the State to get my situation resolved.
I also had used my last check to make the purchase the night before and was absolutely flat broke, so I couldn't buy the hunting license in addition to my deer tag and fishing license. I went round and round with the management of the Wal Mart and eventually found some one who knew a work around for the whole situation and replaced my fishing license with the hunting license. Needless to say, that by the time I did get into the woods, I was several hours late and my only day of hunting that year was seriously hampered by Wal Mart and their useless employees. Sincerely, Mike E

Always check and see what you had purchased. Obviously, your wife does. B. Always keep more than $24 in your checking account in case you need multiple hunting/fishing licenses. C. Who writes check anymore? Genius.
