Whirlpool Refrigerator - White flakes have appeared in my water and ice Whirlpool Refrigerator - White flakes have appeared in my water and ice
Whirlpool Refrigerator
Complaint:
White flakes have appeared in my water and ice. The Whirlpool water filter I had (less than a year old) was causing the flow of water from the dispenser to become very restricted. I changed filter and water flowed normally BUT as I kept running water thru filter (as instructed), I noticed that there were MANY white flakey things in the water. I removed filter and the flakes continued to come out.
I called Sears (where I purchased and had a 5 year maintenance agreement). Service man replaced the plastic hose that was coiled up with the older reservoir container. The next day, I still noticed the white flakey things (should have checked before Sears left). Service just came back today and now they are ordering an entire set of tubing to replace all water and ice lines from water intake to output. Serviceman said this was a common occurence and that it could occur again after all tubing is replaced.
He said that Whirlpool has agreed it is a problem and their permanent fix is NOT TO USE A FILTER!! How luducrous is this?? Is there any information on this? I am very disappointed in this 4 year old Whirlpool refrigerator.
Thanks.....Paul

The only difference is that I use the ice cube trays, not an ice maker. Very strange, have you found anything out yet?
