Nintendo, Sony, XBOX Video Games Deforming Children's Fingers - Update June 6, 2004
Two years ago I discovered deformities in my grandsons fingers and other children's fingers from playing video games. I continued the research and discovered the permanent bending and twisting deformities developing in the children's fingers was during the ages of 2-3-4-5 years old, when their bones are so soft (not calcified and hard like adults).
When the children grasp the controllers when playing, the forces they use in their grasping and playing exceeded the material creep threshold, resulting in permanent bending of bones. Pictures of the children's deformities can be viewed at: http://photos.yahoo.com/miketomich click on the Nintendo, Sony,MS Album.
The state of Michigan is beginning to start an investigation into this. Because of our budget problems, a study just doesn't seem available. I just don't understand....our children are developing physical deformities which will effect their quality of life so badly, and responsible political people such as the US Consumer Product Safety Commission say they 60 some complaints isn't enough. May God have mercy on the ignorance of our Leaders.
I have been in touch with the Carter Center and they are helping with a contact at the CDC. I have also been in touch with the European Union, and they are looking at my presentation. Michigan director of Child Care Center licensing is changing the rules and eliminating games from these centers. Apparently, what has been happening is our toddlers attend these facilities from 6 weeks old and up to 12? years. The toddlers get introduced to these games at the age when their bones are so soft, and result in so much damage. It appears our politicians don't know what to do with this. This is effecting all he children in the world.... there's more to the cause and effect, but this is enough for an initial understanding.
Check your children's fingers to the ones in the pictures at the site above. If there is a problem, if they played these games at a young age, there are injured for what appears to be permanent, unless braces can be utilized. If you notice a problem call your senator or representative or attorney generals office and ask them to contact me at Email User, and I will refer them to the Michigan State Representatives and Senator working on their inquiry.
Presently I have five state legislators helping me in Michigan (just starting). There are others, but I can't put them public yet. Also call the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, Washington, DC and file a phone complaint or form complaint on-line 1-800-638-2772 for your child. Ask for Ken Giles and Dr. Goldsmith and let them know you have the problem with your child also and add that to their list of complaints, and tell them to move on it.
Don't be afraid to mention my name. Tel them, you want a study done on this. Because of the age of the children and the softness of their bones, the results will be official in 6 months. However, it's sad that some children are going to lose physical functions as a result of the watch and see testing.
If you contact me, let me know if you want to be kept current on this progress. If you find an attorney who can take this on for you, let me know.
for teh love of the children............ Mike
