Complaint regarding Freemerchant, owned by Digital River www.freemerchant.com Our company used their secure online ordering system for about 1 year. 4 months ago we switched to a different company. Now some orders which were placed through our Freemerchant/Digital River account have been hacked and are available in an IRC chat room! This includes customer name, address and credit card information. I have contacted Digital River, Freemerchant, and the FBI regarding this breach. However, the point stands that information which should have been cleared from a SECURE server months ago has not only NOT been cleared, it is NOT secure! Any system can be hacked, and I realize that this can happen. The thing that makes this so frustrating is that the information gleaned should have been removed from the Freemerchant / Digital River system months ago. Thank you for your time.
