Whirlpool Gold Appliances / rebates

Lowe’s Rebate Center – Scottsdale, AZ In March of 2004, I purchased 3 Whirlpool Gold appliances. Lowe’s had a promotion that when a customer purchased 3 or more Whirlpool Gold appliances, a $200 rebate would be issued. I sent my receipt and the rebate form in on time. I waited for my check in the mail. Finally a postcard from the rebate center arrived in the mail. It stated that 3 or more Whirlpool Gold appliances must be purchased to qualify for the rebate.

I called the toll free number and told them that I did purchase 3 appliances. I asked them to check my documentation again and they would see 3 appliances on the receipt. The customer service representative said that incomplete documentation is thrown in the trash. She said they cannot keep all the paperwork they receive.

I cannot believe they threw my original receipt in the trash!!! What incompetence! A supervisor, Karla Serrao told me that I would have to fax the receipt over to her so they could verify that the appliances qualified for the rebate. I called the Lowe’s store where the appliances were purchased and I gave them the purchase date, my name, the amount, etc. Emily, a Lowe’s store employee pulled up my receipt in the computer and faxed it to the Lowe’s Rebate Center. I called the Rebate Center 9 business days later. Karla Serrao claimed that they never received the fax from the Lowe’s store. She asked if I could personally fax it to her.

I had to drive all the way back to the store where I purchased the appliances and ask their customer service department if they could print a copy of my receipt for me. Once again, they looked it up in their computer, retrieved it and printed it for me. I am in the process of faxing it to Karla again. In the meantime, I am going to write the Better Business Bureau and the Lowe’s Corporate office. From now on, I’m shopping at The Home Depot. Melissa L
