Centurytel Simple Choice plan
I have been having numerous problems with Centurytel and their service for over half a year now, with many complaints filed and no solutions. The technical problems are not what I am writing about. Lately, there has been a push by Centurytel to get people to enroll in this new plan of theirs called the "Simple Choice" plan, and by description it seems like a great deal. Internet, long distance and all the calling features you can shake a stick at for one low price.
The big seller is that they say it will lower your phone bill from it's current rate. Myself, and everyone I have had the chance to talk to have found that to not be true. It takes a few months for all the "pro rate" charges to clear up, but once they have, SURPRISE! It now costs more to have your phone service, instead of the promise of a lower monthly bill. To make matters worse, the new layout of the phone bill makes it difficult to go through all the details and see where the charges increased! I found one problem, after sifting through the bill for about 5 minutes.
They were still charging me for my long distance service, while also charging me for the "simple choice" plan, which includes the long distance service. I called and complained, had them get me off the "simple choice" and credit me for my long distance service fee. My neighbor also had a terrible surprise, and so have a few others that were suckered into this "simple choice". I have not found anyone who has saved money with this plan as of yet. I wonder if I will?

This "Simple 6" included 1.5 DSL, 6 cents a minute and 19 calling features ......all for $25. Heck, I pay 29.95 just for DSL now. I went over what the charges would be per line with my bill with them on the bill. They couldn't tell me what my taxes would be because they're in another state, but just the base of paying for my line and this Simple 6 was quite a bit lower than my original base without taxes. This deal was just too good to be true. I took down names and made notes with this phone call from Centurytel. I told them to go ahead and set me up A few days later my caller ID kicked in....so I was on my way with this new plan. I couldn't figure out voice mail, so I called Centurytel to ask. She said I could look in the front of my phone book for help. I said okay and just happened to ask what my next bill would be. GOOD THING I ASKED! It was twice as much. I told her everything. She put me on the phone with her supervisor. I explained again. I know she thought I was crazy for what I thought I was getting. She then tried to get me to keep it. NO WAY. I demanded to be put back to where I was a few days prior. I told her this call was also a complaint and that I was misled. I gave her names, times and dates of the person from centurytel that scammed me. I doubt anything will be done.
