pcdirectbiz.com - I recently applied for a pc through pcdirectbiz and told that I was approved for a specific “bundle” with a down payment of $99.00 and weekly payments of $22.00 each. They promptly debited the $99.00 and I heard absolutely nothing more for three weeks. I finally reached the company and was told that all was well, processing just took time. In the meantime I tried to find information about the specific Dell pc I was to receive, and found that the processor was obsolete, and the other specs didn’t match anything they had for sale.

The company (pcdirectbiz) claimed that their information just hadn’t been updated recently and all would be fine, just continue to wait and trust them.. Two weeks later I received a letter stating that my credit score had suddenly dropped and I would need 30% down in order to receive a computer from them. I had not added or changed my credit practices in any way, and I knew that my score had not changed. I called to complain and try to reason with them and when I got a run around, I asked for a cancellation and a refund of my down payment. They have a specific e-mail address for down payment refunds, so I’m sure this is a typical situation.

I received a reply form them stating that I would get my money back, as soon as they sold my system, but in any case within 30 days. Of course I did not. A full month after they acknowledged my cancellation of this order, in writing, by e-mail, they deducted an amount of $19.00 from my checking account. I immediately called them, and they said that someone else with my same name had changed her mind, was willing to pay the 1/3 down, and they mistakenly deducted her payment form my account.

I mentioned the refund of the down payment, and was told that it was not their normal policy, but they would stand behind the e-mail promise, and I would receive a check shortly, as their secretary does refunds twice a month. Miraculously she was just getting to issue some refunds and I would only have to wait for a couple of days for my money. I found it interesting that they were refunding money twice a month if they claimed it was not normal policy, and they had so many satisfied customers.

Who were they sending money to? Nobody!!! I’ve not received a dime, they won’t return my e-mails,(they sure wrote back promptly when they were setting this order up) and I have notified them that I will take this to the next level. Ever heard of credit predators? This is a classic example. They think that because you credit problems, you’re an easy hook.

I’m ashamed that I fell for this scam, and I could not afford the money this has cost me. How can they get away with these business practices? The withdrawal of the payment from my checking account was illegal and we have attorneys in this area who are more than willing to help stop this kind of internet fraud. I will pursue it and hope others will speak out as well. K.Conley
