TriStar Vacuum Cleaner

My house received a phone call yesterday evening informing us that the "Mrs." (my mom) of my house had won a prize for completing a telephone survey a week prior. I hand the phone over to my mom, and she believes she won a prize. She knows she never did a survey about allergies over the phone, but suspected that my sister may have. The lady on the phone tells her my mother that all she has to do is listen to a 20 minute presentation about a product, complete a short survey, and she would receive a prize shortly afterward.

So she arranges for a representative to come over the next morning at around 10 AM. The rep arrives promptly, with a big brown cardboard box with a TriStar vacuum cleaner in it. The rep also has a binder with pages in it that simulate a power point presentation. He shows us how its SO much better then our central vacuum, and that it will never lose power unlike our central vacuum. He even goes to pour sand into the vacuum just to prove to us how powerful it is with the bag still filled. So the rep shows every single piece of equipment that comes with the vacuum. He shows the extension, and all the parts described with great detail. After his long and boring presentation, he asks us to guess the price. $2700 CAD. What a joke. We ask him how many vacuums he's sold in the past week, and he says 6. This could be true with the salemen pressure he used or it could be a total lie.

The final part of the presentation is a survey that we quickly completed about the vacuum. He asks to call his boss on our home phone to prove to the boss that he's done his job. We pretend we're interested in the vacuum even though we weren't and he haggles us with continous pressure and verbal torture to buy the vacuum by continually listing the benefits of the vacuum. He brings the vacuum down by increments of $300 until it finally costs only $1100. We obviously don't want the vacuum since we've invested so much into central vacuum already. He haggles for about thiry minutes on the phone with his boss with salesman talk "Oh! Wow! That's crazy boss. You're willing to drop another $300?" Just terrible how fake he sounded.

Right when he's about to leave, we ask for our free gift, and he says we won a 2 night stay at certain resorts. None of which were in Ottawa or near. He hands us a piece of paper and writes down a phone number to call and a place to send the form. The form looked obviously fake, and we don't intend on using it. We were scammed. If anyone phones your hosue saying you win a prize for completing a phone survey, hang up! You're just going to have your time wasted, and not receive your gift!

Regards,

Anthony

sorry I'm a bit confused, first of all did you happen to ask if any of the destinations were in ottowa? and beside if you live in ottowa, I don't understand why you would want to vacation in ottowa, second you state if somebody calls you, you should just hang up because you will never receive your gift, however by explaining there is no place in ottowa, you must have received the vacation package, and last you say that it is fake, but have you tried booking a vacation yet ? More details would help your complaint
