mini stepper
I bought a mini stepper - Body Sculptire BS-1140 at The Real Canadian Superstore, Metral Drive, Nanaimo, BC, in January 27, 2004. I returned the item in June 22, as a piece of metal snapped rendering the stepper incapable to be used. The salesperson was willing to reimburse me as they don't have it in stock, but had to ask her manager first who is the store manager.
He came over and right away refused any compensation quoting the 14 day return policy printed on the receipt. I told him that usually this clause is only in case I have not used the equipment, am not happy or changed my mind. He insisted and said it's only a fifty dollar item, at which point I told him that that is a lot to me, and he immediately replied that that is a lot to the store too. He continued saying that it's five months old already indicating this equipment is bound to break after that period of time, which I totally disagree with. He refused to discuss the matter anymore and started to walk away, at which point I voiced my opinion about this kind of policy to the people around.
He came back and told me to leave the store and said that there is nobody higher in the store since he is the store manager.I told him that the reason I shop at this store is that it is a Canadian company and I want to support Canadian owned stores and I felt insulted for my efforts.
I compared this kind of policy with American owned stores in the area like Costco and Wal-Mart, which are so accommodating to customers and valued customer satisfaction, willing to take back any item they sold , no questions asked and in some cases no receipt required.
This is my complaint about this company. I have yet not been able to find out where the Headoffice is and who to complaint to in that organization.
