United Airlines Rude Reservations Personnel
I called the United Airlines Reservations line to set up seat assignments for a flight to Los Angeles from Dayton, Ohio (and back again) for myself and my two young sons. The woman who answered my call started to run through my itinerary and the seats that were assigned rather quickly.
I was trying to write the information down, but she was speaking too fast and saying other bits of information (like the fact that on the plane from Chicago to LA there was only one seat that was actually booked and that my two sons might not be able to be on that flight) that I didn't fully understand, so I asked her to please slow down.
She just kept rambling on, so I asked her to stop. After three times of asking her to stop because by then I was lost and confused, she did stop, but then started to get angry with me. She told me that if I could be quiet long enough then she could get through all of the information. She told me that I just kept talking the entire time and she wasn't surprised that I did'nt understand because I wouldn't shut up long enough to hear what she had to say. She then told me that if I wanted to hear anything from anyone then I had to shut my mouth so that they could talk and then I would understand what is being said to me.
I couldn't believe that this woman would be so rude to a paying customer. I tried to explain that I was trying to get her to speak slower from the start, but again she started telling me to shut my mouth for more than ten seconds and maybe I could get the information into my little brain. I don't know what her problem was or why she felt that she needed to speak to me that way. I was NEVER rude to her. I sat in stunned silence while she berated me and insulted me and then proceeded to speak exageratedly slow. I did not want to yell at her, since she obviously would not have listened, so I hung up.
When I called back a few minutes later and spoke to someone else, although they weren't rude to the same extent, the second woman was still cold and short with me. Since when did the customer become someone that the company employees needed to treat so poorly?
What happened to customer service? I, for one, and all of my large family will NEVER use United Airlines again. If I were you, I would check out the numerous other complaints that have been logged here about United. They are obviously a company that no longer cares about the customer, just the cash! My hard earned cash is better spent on airlines that at least act like they care (like Northwest)!
