Complaint: taking advantage of a customer's ignorance about cars and never calling or returning phone calls from the customer.

I brought my Saturn 2000 Stationwagon in for brakes, smog check, and an oil change. I made the appointment two weeks in advance. I brought the car in the day (June 10) before the appointment (June 11) for my convenience. The next day, they never called to inform me about the repairs. I kept calling and finally got my service repair man late in the afternoon. He said they found that I had a coolant leak which contaminated my timing belt, as well as my power steering pump was leaking. He said he would get back to me with an estimate.

He didn't That was Friday. I called all day the following Monday (June 14), leaving messages. Finally I called his Supervisor (at 2:40 pm - June 14) since my service repair man would not return my calls (I had left messages and even had him paged-no response). I told the supervisor to call me before 3:00 pm because I leave work at that time.

He said he would. Exactly at 3:00 pm my service repair man calls me just as I am leaving to tell me that they also found that the engine oil cooler is not working and has to be replaced for $950.00, so that with the power steering pump replacement ($750) and the water pump/timing belt ($1200) my simple brakes and oil change job escalated to over $3,000. Saturn is suppose to be known for their service. Well it stinks. They held onto my car from Thursday afternoon (June 10th) thru the weekend to Monday (June 14th) afternoon before I could get an estimate.

They still had not done my brakes or smog check which is what I originally brought it in for. This to me is extremely suspicious, how does a car that shows no symptoms (no over heating, no leaks, drives fine) develop all these problems just like that. I will never buy any other Saturn as long as I live and I suggest that no one else does. I have never been treated so shabbily. They should be investigated.
