rebates (chuckle; chuckle)
I purchased several items in nov and dec of 2003 that were to have rebates. I was given the special rebate receipts & any other nec' materials. I carefully followed each and every direction. After up to 4 months of frustration following a grace period of the first 2 months; I have received all but the last 2. The clearing house used on these rebates is in Scottsdale;Az. They represent www.rebate staus.com.
Though I have worked mightily with them. They arrogantly refuse to issue the refund. Even though I have more than proven my case to them; that they; and not I; are in error as to rebate requirements. The end result of the whole thing is this Fry's&any other concerned parties. I am buying a large screen tv in the next 30 days. And if you were all but giving them away; you would still have a snowballs chance in hell of selling me one.I am not going to struggle with these rebates any further.
I recommend that anyone thinking of buying an item from Fry's that is supposed to have a rebate attatched; think again. If it is still a good deal without the rebate. Go ahead. Just don't count on the rebate. I know most of these are sponsored by the manufacturer.
But Fry's seems to have little concience in attatching their reputation to a questionable rebate entity. (My current demons are Encore software and Columbia Telecommunications)When I have had a problem with a manufacterer's rebate from other retailers; it seems to get fixed on the first try. With Fry's it's a beaurocracy type nightmare.

I did everything as instructed and they never responded. I kept all my paperwork and followed the instructions like a very good boy; include all their web stuff. The time I expended was worth twice what I paid for the device. I guess the profile of most of their consumers are people with a lot of money who like to forget when it's convenient, or chump change for them. Well, fools and their money are soon parted; it doesn't matter whether it's a million dollars or 2 cents. Profile: consumer idiot; promise them anything and take their money. A sucker is born every minute (now every second, 6.2 billion strong?). Apparently this is universal with Fry's; I experienced their 'know--nothing' attitude here in Anaheim, California. I am never going to buy anything from them. They have plenty of competition. They'll figure they'll just wear you down. But that's nonsense. I vote with my feet and you should too. My feet are just as good as my hands; when it comes to voting. I didn't notice the fine print on my purchase receipt that said that the rebate deadline was 3 DAYS FROM DATE OF PURCHASE. It left me with a bad taste for Fry's.
