After six weeks of use the picture tube went dead Sony KV-34HS510 Television I purchased this lemon high definition Sony TV in June 2004. After six weeks of use the picture tube went dead. Authorized service took a week to come to analyze the problem. A new tube will take two to three weeks to order (more if it is back ordered). After that, service has to pick up the set and then take several weeks for the repair before they bring it back. I contacted Sony's customer service and found that the representatives are not properly educated or authorized to deal with consumer complaints. I was referred through three levels of supervisors, probably just three ordinary representatives. None of them were at all impressed or concerned with the problem. One suggested that I ask the dealer to take it back. Fat chance! Why should the dealer absorb the loss? Be forewarned: Sony will not stand behind their product even when it is initially defective!! Buy a Toshiba or some other brand. They are cheaper and can not be any worse in performance or service. Richard Richard P.
