I am writting this to complain about Cingular Wirelss' debt collection techniques, more specifically the compnay they hire to collect debts; Financial Asset Management, Inc. I have acknowledged that I owe Cingular Wireless a debt. A debt incurred by a kid with a cell phone. I have spoken with Cingular's billing office on numerous occasions, acknowledging the debt, and I am paying on it. I have also told them when it will be paid in full plus penalties. However, Cingular Wireless has placed the debt with a collection agency calle Financial Asset Management, Inc. I have been receiving daily phone calls from these people harassing me, to pay more saying that they have done an "asset investigation" on me and that they have determined that I have the ability to pay the debt in full right now. I have told them to stop calling me, that I am paying on the debt, and they continue to call, harass and say that's not good enough. I have spoken with Cingular Wireless about their tactics and the fact hat they violate both Texas and Federal law. The billing office at Cingular says that they see I am regularly paying on the debt, but there's nothing they can do about the tactics of a third party collection agency. I have spoken with an attorney about this, and she says there is alot they could do, andd that clearly, Financial Asset Management is violating the law. She adivised me to keep a log or recording of each phone call, which I have. Just this morning, they called and started harassing me by telling me that my daughter has very poor phone etiquette.
