Lord & Taylor sales

Lord & Taylor, in Scarsdale, NY, on White Plains Road, has questionable advertising practices. L & T has racks claiming "60-75% off when you take an extra 50% off already reduced clearance items." L & T also gives an additional 20% off reduced items if one has a "coupon". While trying to take advantage of some of these sales today, I was met with frustration and deceptive advertising practices. The racks claiming 60_75% off, etc., were laden with clothes.

When my selections were brought to the check-out counter, I was told that these were not subject to the 60-75% off and they were also not subject to the additional 20% off coupon.

My particular items were "sale" items that were reduced (but not clearance items) and no additional reduction would be taken. Upon further inquiry, I learned that the clearance items ended with .98 cents, and the items I selected ended with .99 cents. The cashier advised that the items were mixed on the racks as "customers" just put them anywhere. I returned to the racks with the above largely printed sign of 60-75% off, etc., and perused the merchandise on the racks. There was a very significant, equally balanced mixture of items ending with .98 and items ending with .99. The amount of merchandise on these racks could not have been placed there by "customers." I believe that L & T draws customers to its stores with advertisements of great sales. When a customer tries to obtain the sale prices, they are not available and the customer is truly being deceived by L & T not making its sale racks more distinguishable.
