THE BEDFORD’S DEVELOPMENTS. I am a resident at the Bedford a Scope home in Buxton I have been there for 33 years. Over the years I have seen lots of changes in this organization. In 1985 we talk about independent living in the community in meetings with the manager of the Bedford. Then we had meetings with our parents and Scope with a cup of tea. Then our parents went to other places to have a look at them. Next we had somebody come from Scope to see the residents one by one. In 1989 we have a meeting about building bungalows in the grounds of the Bedford and we had plans on the notice board it never happened. In 2000 Scope talked about a new building in the grounds for 10 people. All the other 13 residents would have to move out. In 2002 Scope talked about going out into the community. Scope’s idea of going out into the community by building a new building. The residents idea of going out into the community by going out to see other places and seeing other people outside of the home. In 2004 Scope is talking about the new building some residents are already moving to other places. On 27th May 2004 Scope told us they have not decided yet’ the final decision about whether if the Bedford will close will be made in July 2004. After they have got the residents uptight and disturbed for 15 years and 4775 days and still counting. Why Scope taking 15 years and 4775 days to build a new building when other organiztions can do it in one year which is 365 days. R.L Bob L
