Dear Sir or Madam: I am writing to lodge a complaint against an online dating service called JDate.com. JDate matches Jewish singles with each other. The parent company is Matchnet PLC, based in Los Angeles which is planning a stock or IPO offering in September. If you are thinking of recommending, using or joining JDate http:///www.jdate.com, a Jewish singles internet personals and dating Web site, think again before doing so. Particularly if you are planning on paying for a membership to send messages which can only be read by other paying members and you have no way of finding that out before you send an email. Which means you waste your time.

JDate claims they have 300,000 single Jews as members. You might want to think again about those numbers. I recently went through the 490 female and the 480 male profiles aged 18-99 within 60 miles of Seattle and found that nearly 2/3rds of them had not logged in within the last 90 days as required by JDate to be considered active. Which means their real membership numbers are more in the 100,000 range. In my opinion and from reading the Washington Consumer Protection Act, I would call that false and misleading advertising and a deceptive business practice. According to Section 3 of the Section "Your Use of the Service" in JDate's Terms of Service, members "must login to the Service at least once every 90 days from the date Your Membership has been activated or Your profile will be purged from the Service." Of course, JDate isn't going to purge 2/3rds of their members as that would financially devastate them. Boo hoo. I have asked JDate to enforce that rule against all their members and particularly those in the Seattle area but they have refused two request including one formal request in response to an email from them. LavaLife, a honest dating site enforced that rule against me. So have others. I wonder if JDate (a better name is JLate since some of those folks who haven't logged in every 90 days haven't done so for more than 3 years) will ever do so or are they just plain greedy. Maybe they are run by self-hating Jews? In the meantime, if you are looking for a recommendation for honest Jewish singles dating sites on the Internet and you don't want to use JDate, a division of MatchNet of Beverly Hills, I recommend the following Jewish single Internet personal ad sites which I use free of charge to post, send, and receive messages. I do not own any stock in any of these sites. In the meantime, if you are going to use JDate and you want to embed or hide your email address in your profile, you can use some of the following tips based on language from profiles I have seen and copied. This of course is in violation of JDate's contract or rules but then JDate doesn't seem to follow their own rules and terms of service. Here's the latest news about the JDate scam. As of approximately 7/16, you cannot any longer see when a member has last logged in. I am sure all of you who have read the above posting can figure this B.S. out. Jewish in ethics, JDate is not. Tell everyone you know.

jdate is completely unethical. They actively allow commercial spamming and phishing - in the few days I've been a member I have received numerous scam emails, and I have learned that barely any of the profiles viewable in my area are actually active subscribers - this site is a scam. Someone should start a class-action suit against them.

I have also a problem with this site. They don't want to tell me why they suspended my free membership via email and want to call them whilst I would like to have a written confirmation what is wrong with my profile.

I really think that homepage doesn't work. or at least it doesn't work for me!

and I find it also very expensive not to mention that I paid for it for a month. It is said that people making money out of people that pursue happiness and the way they do it somehow really annoying... especially how they make it hard to cancel your payment. Then a lot of profiles that are suggested are over 60 days old!!!!!!!!!!!!

it is simply against any fair trade/advertisement.
