Dear Holiday Bus Co.,
I am writing to express a complaint, due to the way we were treated on one of your tours. On June 11th, we were always back at the designated places and times to be picked up, and everything was going fine UNTIL the last pick-up, where we were totally deserted while waiting in front of the last sight. It was raining and there were many busses waiting. Evidently, your driver drove along the outside of the parked busses, so we didn't see him.
We were getting soaked and the museum wouldn't let us wait inside its entry hall, so we had to stand outside in the rain. My wife was suffering with a severe arthritic attack and had trouble walking......... she was in much pain, and we ended up waiting for about 50 minutes while trying to reach you by phone. We also called our hotel, and someone told us to "Walk to the station which was only 2 blocks away". Well, we soon found out that it was REALLY a mile or so away, and we had to hike it!.........then, take a van to get us back to our hotel.
This wasagony for my wife, and aggravation for me. Now, we need to know WHY your bus driver didn't even give one shot to locate us. All he had to do was go around the block again and toot his horn. Early on in the tour, when 3 women and a child didn't return, he kept us all waiting for a good 20 minutes or more, and even sent one of the passengers to look for them. In our case, he knew that my wife was limping with pain, so how could he do this to us?, and we were the first ones to graciously compliment his performance!
We didn't hear anyone else do this. Later on, we met a couple that had been on the tour with us, and they said the driver told them that he couldn't hang around because security would have suspected him of carrying an explosive device. Well, if that were true, then WHY were so many OTHER busses waiting at the SAME place for approximately 20 to 45 minutes?! We even talked to one of the drivers. There's NO excuse!!!
This was not the only negligence we experienced that day............the driver of the early morning VAN who took the tourists to the bus, failed to check the lobby of the hotel for waiting tourists. We had been told to stay inside and look out of the window for a big Greyhound bus (error), and the van didn't even park in front of the window!
As a result, a hotel employee had to drive us to the van, which then quickly ran us around some sights and caught up with the bus. He admitted he goofed, but never apologized, and we lost about 45 minutes. Lastly, we were also told - that unless we took a tour bus, we would have to wait on a long line of people for 1/2 an hour or more to get into an attraction, which we found isn't true.
If we do not receive proper recompense for the miserable experiences we endured that day, we will have no other alternative, but to see our lawyer and post complaints on internet sites.
We will NEVER take a tour bus again...........it's bad enough having to rush through the attractions and miss so much you would like to see - without going through a mess like this!!! It certainly didn't help my wife's problem either...........and to think - we had a nice tip waiting for the driver.
Ticket/receipt info: Travelodge Tour #1 #262 6/11 7:15AM $72.00 for 2. The bus # is 108.
