Rhodes Furniture, Charlotte, NC - mattress pads not delivered together with bunk beds

Rhodes Furniture - Univeristy Area - Charlotte, NC

I am having a problem with Rhodes Furniture in Charlotte, NC at the University area.

In August 2003 I ordered a set of bunk-beds from Rhodes Furniture and along with the bunk-beds I ordered two mattress pads to protect the mattresses that I ordered for the bunk-beds. The store informed me that since the mattress pads were not in the store that they would have them delivered along with the bunk-beds.

When the bunk-beds were delivered to my home in Gastonia, NC, the mattress pads were not on the truck. I called Rhodes Furniture to find out why they were not on the truck and delivered to me as guaranteed. They told me that the mattress pads must not had been in the store but they would have them shipped to me as soon as they came in.

A week later the mattress pads were still not at my home. I called Rhodes Furniture again to be told that the mattress pads were still not in the store. They again told me that they would deliver them to me as soon as they came in.

A few weeks passed and I called again only to be told the same thing that I had previously been told. So, patiently, I agreed to wait.

A few weeks after that I called & talked to someone. She asked for my home telephone number and my cellular phone number. She told me that she would find something out for me and call me back. When she called me back on my cellular phone she informed me that the mattress pads were at the store and arranged to call my home the following week when a truck would be in Gastonia, NC so that they could be delivered. I agreed that that would be okay.

The next week passed and I didn't receive a call. Therefore, the mattress pads again were not delivered.

On Saturday, December 27, 2003 I was visiting with family in South Carolina. They were looking for furniture and decided to stop in at a furniture store located next door to Rhodes Furniture in South Carolina. While they were in the store next to Rhodes my boyfriend and I walked next door to Rhodes Furniture to see if I could pick up the mattress pads at their location. The store in SC didn't have the right size of mattress pads in. When we left the store I called Rhodes Furniture in Charlotte, NC - University area. I was told, by the manager on duty, that the mattress pads were at their location.

I asked if there was any way that the mattress pads could be mailed to my work location in Charlotte, NC so that I could have them by Monday, December 29, 2003. I explained that I had been given the "run-around" for four months and still didn't have the mattress pads to protect my son's bunk-beds and didn't feel that it was fair that I was paying for the bunk-beds and mattress pads with my Rhodes credit card but had not received the mattress pads. He told me that there was no way that he could have the mattress pads to me by Monday, December 29, 2003. I asked if they could mail them via Fed Ex or some other overnight delivery service because the bunk-beds are unprotected while the mattress pads are not on them. He asked for my home telephone number and my cellular phone number and promised that he would call me back within a few minutes.

I explained to him that I was visiting with family in SC but I would have my cell. phone on for the rest of the night. I explained that I would be back in Gastonia, NC on Sunday so if he called my home he could leave a message. I also explained that if for any reason he could not get me on my cell. phone he could leave a message and that I check my messages frequently. As of Monday, December 29, 2003 I have not heard from him or anyone at Rhodes. It is 4:22 PM. It has been over 48-hours since I was promised a call back from Rhodes and I have not heard anything. When I talked to the manager on Saturday, December 27, 2003 I explained how upset I was because I had been given the "run-around" and told the manager that I would be reporting Rhodes to the BBB on Monday, December 29, 2003 if I did not hear anything back. Evidentally, Rhodes Furniture does not care about their reputation or their customers.

It has been over four months since I ordered bunk-beds and mattress pads from Rhodes. I have the bunk-beds but do not have the mattress pads for them. If anything happens to the mattresses on the bunk-beds they are not covered unless the mattress pads are on them. My son, who sleeps in the bunk-beds, is five-years-old. Hopefully he will not spill anything on the mattresses and hopefully nothing will happen to the mattresses because over four months after I ordered the mattress pads to protect the mattresses I still don't have them. So, if anything happens to the mattresses I will have to buy new ones, which is not something that I want to have to do or feel that I should have to do since they should've been covered by the mattress pads from day one as I was guaranteed.

Rhodes Furniture University area, in Charlotte, NC, is located over 40-minutes from my home so I do not have the time to drive to their store. I have a five-year-old who takes alot of my time. I also have a full-time job, which takes the rest of my time. Even if I had the time, I was guaranteed over four months ago that the mattress pads would be delivered to me.

I don't know what to do at this point. I am paying for something on my Rhodes credit card that I have not received. I can not get anyone to deliver the mattress pads to me and I can not get the manager to call me back.

I learned my lesson about Rhodes Furniture. I thought that since they were such a big name that they must have a reputable name as well. I would've never visited Rhodes Furniture if I would've known that their service is so bad, they do not care about their reputation, and they do not care about their customers. I would've never obtained a credit card through their company or bought anything from them if I would've known either.
