Camelot/Honeymoon homes
I too have a complaint about Camelot Homes in Littleton NH. Not only do they sell mobile homes but also modular homes which is what we purchased.
Our nightmare started soon after our first visit to them in February, 2003.
After being assured it came standard, we ordered oak trim, we got white. We ordered the gray cultured marble "look" master shower, toilet, sink and Jacuzzi tub and got tan. The contract clearly stated that the builders they hired to put the home together would leave debris in 1 or 2 piles. They left it everywhere, all over the property. Like others, we were told they could do it all as in find and hire contractors.
The people they chose not only were major headaches, they are known for shabby work and not paying their sub contractors. Thankfully, we didn't use them. When we went in to make the final choices on colors etc, the manager said he would transfer all the decisions to a master sheet and told us we were finished. He told us he would be faxing the paperwork to the company as soon as he finished so building could begin. The home was suppose to be delivered July 18, 2003. When he transferred them he made mistakes which is how we got the tan bathroom. I still have the originals.
He called us three weeks later saying he forgot to have us sign the final paperwork. At that time, we were to believe the paperwork had been faxed to the company and our home was being built. He asked if my husband could stop on the way home from work to sign off on the paperwork. Since coming to pick me up was wasted time I asked about my signature and he stated my husband could sign my name. Believing that all was done properly, my husband stopped in, and asked for the manager. He had left but the salesman that was there handed my husband the paperwork, showed him where to sign and told him he would send us copies and would fax the paperwork in within the hour.
Apparently the timestamp on their fax machine is incorrect because after requesting a copy of the paperwork from the main company it showed as being faxed in the early afternoon of that day but my husband didn't even get there until almost 6:00 PM. I was also informed by the main company that the manager had no right to have my husband sign the paperwork which I am guessing is bordering illegal. In any event, since my husband signed off on the paperwork, the company is telling us they ordered what he signed for.
I have had to pay for electrical issues to be fixed, plumbing issues to be fixed and in addition to floor and door molding not matching up, I have major cracks everywhere. The driver of the second half of the home cut the corner to wide and tore a corner of the house out which was repaired when the house was placed on the foundation but the cracks that resulted are still there. The home that was suppose to be here July 18th did not arrive until August 18th.
I have consulted with an attorney however since Honeymoon homes makes you sign a contract that says you won't sue them in court, he is unsure if I will do very well with an Arbitration Committee. Since the contract stated an agreement with Honeymoon Homes and I purchased it from Camelot Homes is the big question. All other paperwork says Camelot Homes.
Also, since I reside in Vermont which is where the home is located, he is hoping to override the Arbitration clause stating it has to be in Grafton, NH and pursue it in VT.
If anyone has had problems with Camelot Homes or any of the companies owned by Rene Lefleur, who owns Camelot, Fairlane and the now out of business Citation Homes, I would really appreciate knowing how to get a hold of you to find out how you made out or what steps you took to correct the problems. My attorney said that showing an ongoing "trend" of problems with this company may give us leverage. Thank you in advance.
