key bank

I would like to complain about key bank. I opened an account in November 2003 because of the continental airline miles offered with the use of your bank card. I then preceded to deposit money for christmas gifts, as it would be a slow transition to this bank with automatic deposits and withdrawls from my current. Which I am and was happy with, just intised by the miles. I was told I could use the computer for my banking, and I specifically asked if I needed quicken, because I did use quicken with my current bank and did not want to have too. I was told I did not need quicken, this was untrue.

Beacause I did not have computer access to my account, I became overdrawn with a $4 coffee and merchant purchase for $38, combined with 2 separate bank charges of $28, so my current bank balance became -$94. I deposited more christmas money, all excited about getting miles... the teller gave me back a slip with the deposit amount, but not my balance.

So, I assumed I have the full amount of my deposit and went out shopping. I had not received anything by mail about my overdrafts yet. Because of the almost $100 deficit with my deposit I preceded to overdraft my with several $4 and $5 debits without knowledge of the situation. Once I realized it was too late, I then received notice after notice of overdrafts. My balance snowballed into a deficit of negative $560 with repeated overdraft charges. I made 2 attempts to recfify this by telephone, as I do not work "bankers hours" and could not get into the bank to see what could be done.

I in know way would have allowed this to happen, who wants to pay $32 for a coffee that cost $4? The bank was of NO help and kept referring me to other people. I eventually ended up with some sort of "branch manager" who could not do anything to help me either. I have opted to let it go to collections so I can get a lower pay off regardless of credit damage, because I cannot logically let myself pay these fees. I am currently investigating the fee laws in Oregon re: overdraft charges per day, I believe they may be illegally charging people too much money. So beware of KEY BANK, it is not a good bank to bank with. I have never had a problem with washington mutual, and amount of miles will ever make me change banks again.

April 4 2008.. Worst comsumer deal ever made was for USB to be sold to Key Bank.

I have been experiencing a continuing problem. USB used to automatically withdraw funds from our account for the mortgage payment. If the funds were not there on the 1st, the bank tried a couple of more times on the 3rd and then on the 5th. Generally we had the funds in by the 3rd or 4th. They never froze the small balance we kept there or created an overdrawn balanced.

When Key bank purchased USB, the first thing they did was sell our mortage to Countrywide Financial.

Key bank sucks out funds for my mortqage on the first. If the funds are not there, they create an overdrawn balance and charge $34 for the account being overdrawn. Effectively, KEY BANK took out the grace period. Even though there maybe a grace period for not being charged a late fee for a late mortgage payment, Key bank found yet another way to add more fees and charges. USB never withdrew funds that were not there, but KEY BANK does.

Key Bank has been a nightmare for us.

This has been the worse bank I ever dealt with. My mom died a few months ago and charges still have been added to an account for a loan payment and the bank is so messed up they think it's a credit card. Key Bank has been contacted several times regarding this matter. The people were no help at all and when I called they were sarcastic in helping me resolve this issue. There is no monies, no estate..etc..and they referred me to the collection agency which has been notified prior to this. Collection says everything is on hold (as it always is when someone has an outstanding debt to see if they can recoup any monies). I made an appt. with the branch manager and she called in sick that day and we never received a call to tell us or reschedule the appt. This is a shady operation they have going. One person doesn't know what the other is doing. I got more done dealing with things myself than Key Bank did. DO NOT BANK AT KEY BANK.
