I was the unfortunate recipient of a Maytag Neptune MAH3000. My great aunt found it too "newfangled" and gave it to as a nice gesture since it was supposed to be such a great machine. (It was in a home she purchased).

This machine is much better for growing mold than washing clothes. We received the unit in September 2003 and have had Maytag out 3x since for mold/smell related problems. It has the worst smell and mold growing inside the detergent compartment as well as inside the machine. When we received the machine we cleaned it inside and out, now 4 months later it is covered in mold.

The latest problem is that the bearings went and it is going to be $250 to fix. It was $500 but Maytag offered to pay half. That only covers the newest problem, it will not fix the funky mold problem. Oh, and it was be fixed in 2-3 weeks, so I can haul my laundry and 2 small children to a laundromat. Thanks, Maytag. I am glad that I did not have to pay for them, but if I did I would be joining the class action lawsuit.

I am going to Sears tonight and buy a new machine which will NOT be a Maytag. I regret giving away my previous washer and dryer, but at least it went to charity.
