Coverplan again!!
Hi, below is a letter of complaint, sent to Coverplan, which I think you might be interested in. Cheers! Francis **** Dear Sir I am writing this email in the vain hope that someone in Coverplan will finally do what they have promised and are legally obliged to do, i.e. send me out my vouchers for a broken minidisc bought in Currys, Blanchardstown, Ireland, which has full CoverPlan insurance. I originally sent the Sharp minidisc in to the Repair Centre in Currys on the 5 May 2003. Later, I was told it had been scrapped and that I should have already received vouchers equivalent to the worth of my device in order to purchase a new one. Of course, I had not received them. Let me first add that the repair centre had caused the damage that caused them to scrap my minidisc player (something about the battery unit!), when fixing another simple problem with the screen! So, I rang the Coverplan helpline, and they said, your vouchers are in the post, they should be with you in five working days. Two weeks later, and another call, I was assured they would arrive in 3 working days. Several weeks later, and I was told they must have gotten lost. In order to have them resent, I had to write them a letter (because of their mess up!) and request a new set of vouchers. Or I could fax it to a number they provided. Which I did. After all that! Still no result. So, I rang again a couple of weeks later and was assured by the Coverplan helpline that they would send out the vouchers within the week. There was no mention of compensation for the delay or the cost of calling and holding on the phone all those times! But, still no result. A couple of weeks later, and another call. I had to send the fax again, this time to a different number. This was Coverplan's policy. Is it also the policy to screw around with paying customers! And the person working on the helpline said he'd deal with it and ring me back that day, saying he received the fax. He never did. And no great surprise there. I had almost given up, when I got a letter saying 'sorry' the vouchers are on the way. But this letter had been delayed because CoverPlan didn't bother to put enough postage on the letter to get it to Ireland. What sort of company is Coverplan anyway? How they haven't gone bankrupt is something I can't figure out. This is all bloody ridiculous. I have receipts and copies of all documents, including the faxed letters, along with witnesses to my efforts. I also have a recorded phone conversation with one the helpline people (aren't mobile phones handy!) promising I would get my vouchers. Now, before I go and seek legal advice (yes I am that annoyed!) I am offering one more chance to sort out this problem. I will not stand being messed around any longer. This behaviour is entirely unacceptable. I await your response, and can provide full details then. I will not go away. Regards Francis L
