AOL - cancelled in October, 2003 - given two free months - billed again AOL - cancelled in October, 2003 - given two free months - billed again

AOL
I heard that AOL conveniently makes it difficult to unsubscibe from their service but I fell for their "trick" anyway.
I cancelled service in October- was told I could have two free months to make sure people had my new email address. I asked if the service would be automatically cancelled- the AOL phone rep said I would NOT have to call back to have my service disconnected.
After two months, I still had AOL email service so I called to find out why I was being billed again. I was amazed by the rudeness of "Jerry" and the supposed supervisor, "Tina". Jerry told me, "I don't believe you- did you really think you would receive two months free without having to call back?" I told him I really did, since that's what I was told by the AOL representative in October.
I didn't even want the two free months since I already had other service...I had logged on to check to see if my account was cancelled.
The AOL supervisor said I obviously was still using the AOL account, even when I tried to interrupt her to explain I was trying to see if I was still receiving email to that account. Bizarre.
When I complained about being billed, Tina told me she could give me a discount on further AOL service. I couldn't believe it. She finally agreed to a prorated refund.
I'll never have service through AOL again- the people were incredibly rude and unprofessional when I tried to cancel my account. I fell for their trick of automatically billing me after I wanted to have my service cancelled.
