Lazyboy Recliner Rocker / Poor Service
Lazyboy Furniture Gallery - Brant Street, Burlington, Ontario, Canada. We purchased 2 'oversized deluxe' Lazyboy rocker recliners in December of 2002. Upon delivery, I noticed that the one seat was sagging slightly to the right, and squeaking far too loud whenever I sat in it. They sent out 2 service guys who were great, and they replaced so many parts on the chair. They agreed there was a problem, but they just couldn't get it right. (The other chair was fine, though the service guys found something wrong with it, and replaced it for us - this was very nice of them, as I hadn't noticed the problem.) Finally, after 5-6 months of many return visits from these service guys, the chair was taken away for 2 months, and returned to the factory for servicing. (They gave us a loaner which had gum wrappers and someone's cigarette lighter in it.) Two months later, our chair was returned to us.... in the same condition - sagging, and squeaking. We endured the next 6 months of a few more service guy visits - finally, they told us that yes, there is a problem, but we've done all we can do. Then I signed the final invoice and made a note beside my signature that I was not satisfied, and that the chair still tipped to the right and squeaked. Many more phone calls to the store - weeks for return phone calls. Excuses such as the fact that we bought the chairs a year ago, so it had been too long now for them to do anything. One of the store managers came out here and sat in it - appeared very dazed, and said, "I think I feel it." Then reported back to the store that there is nothing wrong with our chair. In the meantime, the chair has started making not only the squeaking noise, but it makes a loud bang with each rocking motion. The chair is loose also. The 'spacy lady' went off on leave. I found this out after many weeks of no phone call from her. A fellow that was filling in for her tried to tell me that because I babysit once or twice a month - little 20-25 pound boys, I was therefore using my chair for commercial use, so this would void the warranty. I got very angry. I called head-office in Kitchener Waterloo, Canada, who said they'd take care of it. Very nice lady - I felt confident that we'd finally get this issue resolved. She heard the squeaking over the phone!! Then, I receive an email from head-office in Kitchener, from the same 'very nice lady' and she informed me that there is nothing wrong with my chair and this case is closed. I have endured over a year of stress from this company, and our chair is now un-usable due to 'noise.' Lazyboy has written us off, and closed our case. This is so unfair, and I will never buy from them again, nor will I promote their product. I will be taking them to small claims court over this. It's sad that for the small inconvenience it is to them, they should have tried a little harder to keep a customer, as now, it will cost them 5 times as much to recruit a new one. One disatisfied customer tells 5 people, and those 5 people tell several more, and so on.... Customer service is obviously not important to this company. Jo-Anne P

Customer Service is quite clearly not high on their priority list. I shall pass this on. My husband says if I am going to get one then their chairs are the best. I have had some from Leons and the life of their recliners is not great. So I have been arguing with him that lazy boy is just over priced for the same stuff. After reading your email to him we won't be going to lazyboy. Thanks again!!
