People Energy / refused to disconnect service at customer request
To Whom It May Concern:
I learned that my husband nephew had been using my name for his gas service a month ago by my credit rating report. Two months ago I requested my credit report because I had been turn down for credit. When I received my credit report I found that Peoples Energy had me in a bad credit rating status, stating that I owe them $108.00 dollars. I immediately attempted to contact Peoples energy but were unsuccessful in reaching their customer service department. It took me almost two weeks to reach them without holing on the telephone for over thirty minutes. It is ridiculous!!
When I finally reach People Energy, I told them that I did not have gas service in my name with them. I was told by People Gas that service was in my name at address 4905 West Ohio St, Chicago, Illinois. I told them that my husband nephew, Calvin Giles live at that address and we sold Calvin the house on October, 1990. I told Peoples Energy that I did not know that Calvin had his gas service in my name.
I told Peoples Energy that gas was fraudulent kept in my name without my knowledge for fourteenth years. If I had not check my credit report I would not have known. I demanded that Peoples Energy disconnected the service immediately. The gas service also told me that they will not remove the adverse information off my credit report because it was my responsibility to disconnect my gas service.
I explained to Peoples Energy that I attempted to call to have my service transferred but my husband asked me to wait because Calvin (his nephew) was moving in right away and he did not want the gas company to disconnect the service . My husband told me that he will have the service from 4905 West Ohio transferred to our new address at 4934 West Hirsch St. I only learned that my husband had not transferred eight months later, when Commonwealth Edison called me to inform me that my payment was past due at 4905 West Ohio St, the old address.
My husband had put the utilities in his name at our new address instead of transferring the services at 4905 Ohio St., (Old Address) without my knowledge. I told Commonwealth Edison to disconnect the service and I also called told Calvin that I did not authorized him nor my husband to use my name for his utilities service. I did not know that Calvin had my gas service in his name. I would think that since Calvin and my husband committed fraud, I would think he would have at least had the decency to keep the bill paid.
At this point, the gas company will cooperate with me in disconnecting the gas service at Calvin house. I called Calvin and he would not return my call. When I finally reached Calvin, he acted as though he did not what I was talking about. When he finally seem to know what I was talking about , he only said that he had his peoples working on it. Whatever that means. Peoples Energy is also not cooperating , I was told by customer service over two weeks ago that the service will be turn off at 4905 West Ohio St. I was told that if they (Peoples Energy) cannot get access to the meter, they will turn service off from the street. I called customer service twice and was each time that if no access, service will be turn off from the street.
Well, when I called Thursday, February 05, 2004, I was told simply that they could not get access to the meter. They denied that they told me that they will turn the service off from the street. On Friday, February 12,2004, I called the corporate office and was shift around forever, Finally, I reached a Mr. Thomas S. Japczyk, manager and he gave me a Mr Jim Robinson at 312-240-3649, person in charge of the area that I needed. Guess what, Mr. Robinson did not return my call. It seem that Peoples Energy executives is not giving me any consideration just as Calvin.
I would think that Calvin would call me right away in his position.
I am very hurt that I am force to write this complaints regarding a family. I am going to take legal action against Calvin, Peoples Energy and other party involve to get this averse information from my credit report. It is shameful and very painful for me to have to go to this extent because I have not been given any consideration by Calvin, Peoples Energy and my husband of this terrible situation. This is a crime. I don't understand, what was they thinking!!!
