LENDING TREE Charged ME 79.95 for a closed account

I set up to get a free credit report with LendingTree, I cancelled the account about 5 minutes after so that I would not be charged a fee. Almost 2 months later I check my bank statement online and there indeed is a charge of $79.95 taking from my account.

I called the 800 number to resolve this on the day it was charged. I spoke to 5 different people who couldn't seem to find my account, stating that their records showed it as being closed. I was told the amount would be reversed and it never was.

I have called and talked to about 12 different people and I still haven't received my money back. When I ask to speak to a manager he is always conveniently not available. They have sent me to 3 different companies, Consumer Info, Experian, and Lending Tree. All of them keep stating that they do not in fact charge any amount on my credit card, but assure me that it will be taken off, or give me the number to one of the companies to call.

I am on the phone with them as I am typing this and they are telling me that my card has been declined for the refund which is not at possible. I never heard of a bank declining the refund of money to an account. They also want me to call back in 2 hours because all of a sudden their systems are down.
