Re: The Mobile Solution at the New Park Mall 2/8/04 (Sunday), walking checking around the wireless plan, getting hungry, tired; I don't know what I was thinking. I was almost sure to get ATT Wireless family share plan since I get some discount through my employer. At this time, I though the discount I receive from my company was 10%. A sales person, let's call him Mr. BJ, started to talk to me and put a few phones in front of my face, quoted the prices of the phones. Some were free but I would require to pay tax, which is understandable.
My primary concern was if the plan I wanted would be eligible to get 10% discount. Mr. BJ got on the phone with someone, and he confirmed that I get the 10% discount on the phone and the plan. I was almost starting to think Mr. BJ can get a little commission from me with the thought of my getting the phones today. I was asked for my driver's license and a credit card. I have forgot until 2 mornings later that he made a copy of my driver's license and pressed a carbon of my credit card at this point. He brought the contract form, and I filled out the top half, he quickly went over about 10 items where I had to initial. One item I initialed, which my daughter pointed out read some type of 'club'. So when I asked the question regarding what it was, he said it's like an insurance that is included in the price and silly not to get it, which made me believe it was from ATT monthly billing. He printed out looked like some internal 8.5 x 11 printed itemized transaction and stapled all (credit card receipt, this form, 2 pages contracts) together quickly. I didn't pay attention to the itemized stuff as I saw the few items that showed all 0.00 amount totaling 0.00, thinking this is somewhat for internal purpose. Later I found out this one didn't belong to me or purposely printed out to trick me. The next day, I called my company's line to ATT, and was told the discount that would be given to me was 7%. I started to read fine print in the back of the contract, and discovered $40 may be charged for the 'digital buyers club' every 3 months. I found other people complain on the web site, and was determined to return the phones on that day. There were more lies and threats upon trying to return the phones (such as I couldn't return phones that's not deactivated, which is not what ATT told me, but I got on the phone with ATT to deactivate the phones, and had it confirmed by passing the phone to them). After about one hour, a guy with 'regional director' showed up and took over my returns. He accused me of having a wrong receipt (the itemized one), and said I couldn't return the phones because of it.
When he finally printed out my itemized receipt, I saw the break-down of item included charges for 'digital buyers club', instead of two phones totaling to the amount I paid. If I had this receipt, I would have had noticed it. Anyway after being there 1.5 hours, he took my credit card, and printed out the negative amount of $55 and said I was done.
Again even he tried to trick me? The total was $80, so somehow he forgot to include the amount for the 'digital buyers club'. So he printed out the another one. I also had to insist get the copies of the 'ATT return form's I signed for each phone. After I got the difference of $25, thought I was done, and he assured me the membership to the 'digital buyers club' would be canceled without me taking any action. Well, next morning I woke up, and thought why didn't I get the ordinal credit receipt (2.5 size receipt) that shows the amount and the credit card number. Later in the day, I started to think about the driver's license copy, and the another blank credit card carbon. The $80 was already deducted from my credit card, but I cancel the number. This is the day 3 from returning the phones, so I am waiting for the refund. iranai g
