Levitz and a usless 7 year warranty
I purchased a living room set and tables from Levitz in Wilmington Delaware in July of 2002. Recently my wife noticed 2 rips on the sofa, in the exact same spot on both arms at the frame. Immediately she contacted Stainsafe to have someone look at the rips.
That was in the first week of Nov, 2003. A technician showed up on Jan. 8th 2004 and looked at the rips and stated they could not be repaired. This after a 30 second service call. Stainsafe has since DENIED the claim stating that we did not follow the "TIME FRAME FOR REPORTING"???...I thought a 7 year warranty meant 7 years! I guess Levitz and Stainsafe have a different idea.
After the DENIAL, we went directly to the Wilm. DE store and spoke to the AREA MANAGER (STAN EDWARDS) who called the corporate office and was told the exact same thing, He did not understand the term "TIME FRAME FOR REPORTING" either.
It is very evident they are selling something they do not understand and or they know is a useless piece of paper they pressure you to buy. Our salesman Scott Pierce claimed it was worth the money considering I was putting it in a sun room ,due to possible fading of the cloth. That turns out to be the least of my problems.
We have contacted Stainsafe several times and the rude customer service reps are of little help. I requested a copy of the techs original report but have never gotten one. The DENIAL stated the sofa had many stains and attributed the rips to abuse. This is definitely a canned statement they use for all DENIALS, the furniture looks like new, except for it tearing apart. These defects are definitely a manufactures defect in constructing the furniture and Stainsafe refuses to stand by their warranty.
I was told to write a letter to Stainsafe and ask them to re-open the claim. I can now see this is a useless warranty and should expect absolutely no service from Levitz or Stainsafe.
We all should get together and file a class action suit against LEVITZ and STAINSAFE. I'm absolutely convinced they are in this together to defraud the public.
