BAD IDEA! i made a note on my calender to cancel the service before the three months was over.

i recently got a new laptop for graduation. it came with a cd for 3 months free aol service. i was excited and didn't want to wait for my wireless connection equipment to come in the mail so i decided to use it and cancell it after i received my wireless equipment. BAD IDEA! i made a note on my calender to cancel the service before the three months was over.

 

i called and, after waiting on hold for 15 minutes, got in touch with a woman with an asian accent. she would not let me cancel until i cussed her out. i thought it was rediculous to have to resort to such extreme mesures. i got my cancellation number, her name and direct line, and wrote down all the dates i had on my calendar concerning aol and all of the dates she had mentioned.

 

when i got my credit card bill the 2 months after i noticed that they had charged me. i was inconvienienced but i figured it could be fixed. so i called this womans direct line and someone answered the phone other than her (even though they sounded EXACTLY the same, but maybe it was the accent). i told her the situation and she gave me the same round-about talk. so i had to cuss her out too.

 

finally i got some dates from her and they didn't match up at all with mine or the other woman's. then she said that i used the service for 5 months (it was 2), and when she told me the start date and the end date it added up to 4 months. so even her wrong information was incorrect. Anyway i filed fraydulent charges with my credit card company (dont use the number they give you to report fraudulent charges) and after 4 more months got a refund.

 

after seeing all the complaints made about the same exact circumstances i felt i should add mine as well. there really should be something that we can do to stop this company from robbing so many hard working citizens, especially since there internet service is terrible in the first place. it is impossible to stay connected for more than 20 mins. at a time. This company is rediculous and if someone knows what i can do to stop them from robbing others please contact me.
