I had a terrible experience on 12/5/04 when Iattempted to travel from Los Angeles to Torreon, Mexico on Aero California. I arrived at the ticket counter after passing my bags through security about two and a half hours before the flight for which I had a ticket and reservations. The flight was overbooked and ther were at least 40 other passengers who were bumped from the flight.
I asked for the overbooking rules but was never given them by the airline, and they refused to offer a seat with another airline. Their next scheduled flight for my destination from Los Angeles was three days later on Wednesday. They offered no compensation other than a free round trip ticket for future use, which was of no use or value to me.
Some passengers were told that they would be placed on a standby list for Wednesday. Others were told that there would be no more seats until 12/11. We were not treated with the respect and dignity the we deserved.
