Delta Airlines checked my suitcase and golfclubs in at Baltimore (BWI) on 12/24/04. I got to the gate for the flight, and then they decided to cancel the flight. After standing in line at the counter, I was told that I had to get on the phone with Delta. After waiting for a phone, I waited again until I got through. All of this took about an hour.

I was told that the next flight to Dallas (DFW) was the next day (12/25/04). I asked about my bags and was assured they would be OK and I could get them at DFW when I landed. After landing I had my suicase, but no golfclubs. I was told they were still at BWI. I was also told that they would have them delivered within 24 hours to my hotel. After 28 hours, I had the hotel check the Delta website and found that my clubs were at DFW.

The next morning, I was to play golf. I called the 800-325-8224 number and was on hold for 45 minutes. Finally I talked to a woman who said that the golfclubs were indeed at DFW. I asked if I could pick them up. She replied that they would hold them for my pick up. I arrived at the baggage claim office about an hour later, and they could not find my golfclubs. I was given a phone number for lost luggage at DFW. It is a message inbox, and they are supposed to call you back. The problem with this service is that the mailbox has been full for days and I can't leave a message.

When I left DFW, I checked again, and they still hadn't found them. I checked when I got to BWI, and was told the clubs are at DFW. The website still says they are at DFW. I have called the 800 # I listed above and have been on hold for more than 2 hours waiting to be served.

Delta employees said that I can file a claim, but I will need my receipts. What golfer in the world holds onto a receipt for clubs?? The bag was a gift for buying a set of clubs, The bag cover was a gift for joining an organization, I will not have recepts for these items. So even if Delta somehow accepts my credit card statements, I will still be out a few hundred dollars for these items.

I am thinking the Delta employees are in with some fencing operation or pawn shop, and know that nothing can be done. The bags are not scanned when they go on or off of a plane. If any luggage goes on a plane, and gets taken by anyone other than the owner, Delta would have no knowledge of the bag even getting on or off of a plane. I discussed this with the employees at DFW and they agreed that this could happen

Something needs to be done!!!!!!!
