Sweater Return / Hecht's Sweater Return / Hecht's
Hecht's - Department Story - Short Pump Town Center, Richmond, VA On Tuesday, Dec. 28, I went with my mother to Hecht's at Short Pump in Richmond, VA to exchange a cashmere sweater my wife had given her for Christmas. It was the incorrect size. Hecht's did not have the size she needed, so she decided to exchange the gift sweater for a slightly mor expensive sweater. Incredibly, although my mother had the actual receipt, the store clerk REFUSED to sxchange the item because allwe had was the receipt and no my wife's actual credit card.
My mother suggested that the clerk simply refund the entire amount to the credit card and offered to pay separately for the sweater she wanted.
"Impossible," the clerk said. The only way the exchange can take place is with the credit card present. This is the single most ridiculous return policy I have ever encountered. I will NEVER AGAIN shop at Hecht's and I will make certain that everyone I have influence with is aware of their bizarre and unfriendly exchange policy. As a financail analyst I find it appalling that management would enforce this absurd exchange/return policy, especially since it cost the store a sale of a more expensive item. Absolutely incredible. Short-sighted stupidty at the retail management level never ceases to amaze me.
