j. crew- or should i say s. crew as in screwing gift receipts by ten dollars j. crew- or should i say s. crew as in screwing gift receipts by ten dollars
something strange happened to me....i bought my boyfriend a sweater for xmas... knowing he would probably exchange it, i made sure that the gift receipt was with the sweater when i gave it to him. sure enough, he wanted something else. we went to the store and he found a pair of pants to exchange the sweater for. - the pants were $39.99.
i remembered paying appx $40.00 -so i knew he wouldnt have to pay a difference. not so. when they ran the gift receipt (which shows no $ amount) they said that he had $29.99 for the exchange, leaving him with the difference of $10.00. i knew they were wrong... but i had to go home and find my receipt to prove it & i did.
I paid $39.99 for that sweater, but the gift receipt was only for $29.99. i called the store, explained the situation and they said if i had both receipts-they would refund the difference (their mistake)- that's great- but what about the hassle of driving back to the mall 2 x, paying for parking, and the time it takes to do it all again...
i couldnt help but wonder if somehow this wasn't a mistake... most people wouldnt tell you they took a gift back, and with no $ amount on the receipt, how would they know if J. Crew just screwed them out of a measley $10 bucks...? sounds like an easy way for a company to make free cash off customers that would never know the difference.
