I recently in November 2004 signed up for the Vonage Business Account receiving a Phone Line and Fax Line in a Linksys Broadband Router supplied by Vonage. After receiving it I cancelled my Verizon fax line and started to attempt to use the fax line of vonage. My Panasonic Laser Fax would not receive or send any fax. Always I would receive a error message.
I tried using a US Robotics 56K Modem with the computer. This I can control the speed of it's transmission. I tried 9,600 baud and still received error messages when I tried receiving anything on it.
After several days of trying I found I could send occasionally but never receive anything across the fax line they supplied.
Several attempts were made to reach their customer service department. Long holds while trying to run a business which lost a leg (the fax) made it difficult to stay on the line for long periods of time. I never spoke to anyone.
Several emails were sent to their customer service. I detailed out the problems and had no response.
When I found a overseas's mode (out going) on the fax I faxed to Vonage a three page memo. No response.
To this day I still can not receive any fax transmissions incoming. To solve the problem for a short term I have signed up with a Email to Fax system which works great but at an additional cost to me.
If Vonage is selling something that does not work then they should be held accountable to repair or replace or refund the cost of their system. I expect to be reimbursed for the other service.
